The Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association (BCBSA) is a national federation of 39 independent Blue Cross and Blue Shield companies. There are 63 plans in the U.S., and 2 in Central and South America.  Approximately one third of all Americans with health insurance have coverage through a Blues organization.  To date, there are over 35,000 carefully reviewed members who wish to collaborate across the federated Blues organizations to create efficiencies, share best practices and innovations that benefit health care.

This group is focused on knowledge exchange between members on best practices, technology and regulatory trends. Focus: enable border less harmonization and adoption of health care standards. 

  • Accountable Care Organizations
  • Quality measures such as HEDIS and 5-Star Ratings for Medicare Advantage Plans
  • HIPAA health IT standards supporting HIPAA 5010
  • Medical coding standard ICD-10 and and related provider to payer claims process impacts. 
  • Health care process improvement, facilitation and BPM approaches are also addressed.
  • New!  There are provider subgroups covering Electronic Medical Records / Electronic Health Records (EMR / EHR) and revenuce cyle impacts, as well as enterprise architecture subgroups.
